Combine Twitch and Kick chat

If you stream to Twitch and Kick at the same time, you have two chats and one pair of eyes. This guide puts both in one window you can read, reply to and moderate, and both on your stream as one overlay. It takes a few minutes and nothing to install.

Before you go live on both

Both platforms allow it, with conditions worth knowing first.

Read both chats in one window

  1. Open the app. No account is needed to read chat.
  2. Type your Twitch channel name in the Twitch box and press Add.
  3. Type your Kick channel name in the Kick box and press Add.

Both chats now arrive in one feed, each line marked with its platform's colour. Use the channel names from each site's address bar. They are often the same, but plenty of streamers had to pick a different name on Kick, and Kick names can contain an underscore or a dash, which Combined Chat treats as the same channel either way.

What each chat looks like carries over. Twitch subscriber and moderator badges, Kick subscriber tiers, level badges and collectables all show with their real artwork (the Kick chat page explains why many tools miss Kick's), and BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ and 7TV emotes work on both, including each channel's own sets. Someone posting the same line over and over collapses into one row with a counter.

Reply to both from one box

Sign in with Twitch and with Kick, and the box under chat sends to both. Small chips beside it show where a message will go, so you can send to one platform or both. To answer someone, hover over their message (press and hold on a phone) and choose Reply; the reply goes to the platform they wrote on.

The same hover menu has Copy and Pin. A pin on a Twitch message, when you are the streamer or a moderator, pins it in Twitch's own chat. Kick's public API has no pin, so Kick messages pin in your Combined Chat window only.

Moderate both from one place

If you are the streamer or a moderator, the same menu deletes a message, times someone out for ten minutes or bans them, on whichever platform they wrote on, through each platform's official API with your own account. You can also type commands in the box: /ban and /timeout work on Twitch and Kick, and Twitch's other commands (slow mode, followers-only, announcements, shoutouts, raids and more) work on Twitch. Kick's public API only offers bans and timeouts, so anything else on Kick still happens on kick.com.

Put both chats on your stream

The overlay builder makes one OBS browser source with Twitch and Kick chat together. Enter both channel names, set the font, size, colours and outline while you watch a live preview, then copy the link into a Browser source in OBS. The OBS overlay guide walks through each step.

A few settings matter more when two chats share the screen:

If you'd rather keep Twitch chat on its own on your Twitch stream, make two overlays instead, one with only Twitch and one with only Kick, and place them apart. The rules page explains why some streamers do.

When a connection drops

Kick drops chat connections now and then, one at a time, every few hours. Combined Chat reconnects on its own, usually within a couple of seconds. If your own internet drops for a moment, the page catches up on what it missed when it reconnects, so a short drop doesn't leave a hole in your chat or on your overlay.

Viewers and moderators

Turn on viewer counts in settings to see each channel's live count, and the viewer bar to see Twitch and Kick added into one total. Set up a share link in settings and your viewers and moderators can open both chats in one window too, with your channels already connected, no account needed to read. If your chat speaks more than one language, the free chat translator works on Twitch and Kick.

Streaming to more than two?

YouTube and Rumble join the same feed and the same overlay the same way: add the channel in its box. The setup guide covers all four.

Common questions

How do I combine Twitch and Kick chat?

Open Combined Chat, add your Twitch channel and your Kick channel, and both chats appear in one feed. Nothing to install and no account needed to read. Sign in with both platforms to reply and moderate.

Can I show Twitch and Kick chat in one OBS overlay?

Yes. The overlay builder makes one browser source with both chats, with platform icons so viewers can tell them apart. You can also make one overlay per platform if you prefer to keep them separate.

Can I reply to Kick chat and Twitch chat from one place?

Yes, after signing in with both. Messages can go to one platform or both, and a reply goes to the platform the person wrote on.

Is it allowed to stream to Twitch and Kick at the same time?

Yes. Twitch allows simulcasting as long as your Twitch stream is at least as good as the others. Kick partners must turn on the Multistreaming toggle when also live on Twitch, and Kick pays partners 50% of their partner income while it is on.

Do 7TV emotes work for both?

Yes. BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ and 7TV emotes work for Twitch and Kick, including each channel's own emote sets.
