Rumble chat, in the same window as everything else

Rumble is the platform most multistream chat tools skip. Combined Chat reads Rumble live chat in the same feed as Twitch, Kick and YouTube, with no login and nothing to install.

Why Rumble chat is hard to get at

Rumble's official Live Stream API is keyed to one creator and only exposes that creator's own channel, a few dozen messages at a time. That works for a streamer reading their own chat and for nothing else. It cannot serve a viewer, a moderator, or anyone watching a channel they do not own.

The second problem is that Rumble blocks server-side lookups of channel and video pages. A tool cannot take a channel name and work out which stream is live right now, which is the step every other platform allows.

What Combined Chat does

How to connect a Rumble chat

Because a channel name cannot be resolved, Combined Chat asks for the chat itself. It takes about ten seconds:

  1. Open the live stream on rumble.com.
  2. Above the chat panel, click the popout button. A new window opens containing only the chat.
  3. Copy that window's address. It looks like rumble.com/chat/popup/448418678.
  4. Paste it into the Rumble field in Combined Chat and press Connect.

The number in that address identifies the stream, not the channel, so it changes every time the channel goes live. If a Rumble chat stops connecting at the start of a new stream, that is why: open the popout again and paste the new link.

What Rumble does not get yet

Rumble chat is read-only in Combined Chat for now. Sending messages and moderating are available on Twitch and Kick, where the platforms provide the means to do it on your behalf. Rumble does not offer that to third-party tools in a way that works for anyone other than the channel owner.

Rumble alongside everything else

If you multistream to Rumble and somewhere else, or your community is split between Rumble and Kick, this is the point: one window, every chat. See the setup guide to get all four running, or the OBS overlay page to put Rumble chat on stream.

Common questions

Do I need a Rumble account to read Rumble chat?

No. Reading Rumble chat in Combined Chat needs no login on any platform.

Why can't I just type the Rumble channel name?

Rumble blocks the server-side lookups a tool would need to find which stream a channel is live on. Pasting the popout chat link gives Combined Chat the stream directly.

Why did my Rumble chat stop working on a new stream?

The popout chat link contains a stream id that changes every time the channel goes live. Open the popout chat again and paste the new link.

Can I send messages to Rumble chat from Combined Chat?

Not yet. Rumble chat is read-only. Sending and moderating work on Twitch and Kick.

Do Rumble badges show up?

Yes, with Rumble's own artwork.

Does Rumble chat work in the OBS overlay?

Yes. The overlay builder has a Rumble field and shows Rumble messages in the same feed as the other platforms.
